How a nose result settles and holds

Rhinoplasty changes the shape of the nose. The long-run questions are how the result settles, whether it holds, and what a revision would involve. No page can see your nose, so those are questions for your own exam. The questions worth asking, and general sources on cost, consultation and results, are a good start. The plastic surgery society publishes pages on rhinoplasty cost, the rhinoplasty consultation and rhinoplasty results.

Insurance, risks and timing for a nose

Open or closed, and the long view

Ask the surgeon who examines you which approach they would use and why. A systematic review and meta-analysis of outcomes of open versus closed rhinoplasty compares the two approaches across many studies, which is the kind of evidence worth reading. It cannot tell you which approach suits your nose, so bring it up as a question rather than a conclusion.

Then cover the long view: the expected life of the result, the changes that may come with age, and what happens if you are not happy with it.
